Josh Log

Josh got a bike from G-Pa and Nana! He wasn't sure at first what to do with it. When they brought it over, they had Kayla with him (she is Nana's great-granddaughter) so Josh thought it was hers. It took him a little while to figure it out. Now, he rides it all over. We schlepped it everywhere this weekend. He also has a helmet to wear with it and he looks so cute!

Friday night, we went to the Meade's for dinner and a gift exchange. We really had fun. Josh and Wil enjoy each other so much that it gets a little crazy. Oh, and Josh fell off the top bunk. Not hurt, just scared. I think it scared everyone. He's a little stunt man.

We had a great Christmas! Monday, of course it snowed. I picked Josh up early from school and we played outside. We threw slush balls at the trees and the Mustang. Not at the van and only at the tires, not the windows. Lots of rules for snow ball throwing. We played until his little hands hurt, they were so cold.

Christmas Eve, Grammie came up to stay for a couple of days. Christmas morning, we got up at about 9:00 to open presents. We let Josh open all his first. He got his Thomas train set, which he loved, some Bob the Builder Legos from Aunt Stacey, a book, a tape measure, and some Woody Pajamas. We wish we could have had a camera set up all day in our living room. We changed the layout of the train set about 10 times. I think Shawn and I are having as much fun with it as Josh, especially Shawn, he commented Christmas night, "Today was a great day to be Josh's Daddy".

Sunday afternoon, we were having some quiet time. Shawn was gone and I was reading. Josh looked up at me and says, "Mama, it's nap time now." He was a tired boy.

Saturday, we did some shopping. Josh did fine through the grocery part, but something set him off when we went to pick out a gift for Kamdyn and he turned into a monster. He screamed for about 20 minutes until we got back out to the van. Then he quieted down only to start screaming again when he realized he didn't get to look at Hot Wheels. I told him that he threw a fit and you don't get to look at what you want if you disobey and throw tantrums. When Shawn got home, he says "Daddy, I didn't get to look Hot Wheels today." Why? "I threw a fit."

Saturday evening, we had our Fourth Annual Linfoot-Moore Christmas party. It was fun, although hectic. We have two little messes causing trouble now. Crazy boys.

The nap is the key! Yesterday, I was home all day with Josh and I made him take a nap. He was a totally different kid. Why he thinks he has outgrown naps, I cannot say.

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, I went with Momma and Daddy Meade to see "The Two Towers" at 12:01 am. It was amazing! I was excited to see it, but also to get out of the house. Josh wanted to go with me though. I told him that it might be too scary for him. He says, "I'll close my ears like this" as he covers his ears with his hands. No go, he stayed home with Daddy and played cards. He told me that they played with "The hearts, the pades, the clovers, and the kites." That would be diamonds.

Baby Aidan came over to play last night. He did really well and Josh was a big help. He understood when I told him that we couldn't get certain things out because they were a little too small for Aidan. "I bigger now, Baby Aidan is ittle."

We're back! We had such a great time! Josh stayed at Suzanne and Kevin's house, of course Baby Aidan was there also. They said that he did really well. Naturally, he would be a perfect little gentleman for somebody else. I suppose that's when it counts.

Wednesday evening, we were watching "The Rescuers" on TV, it's one of my favorites and Josh liked it too. The fun part was, after it was over, there was some time to kill. The station played some "Chip and Dale" cartoons. Josh really loved that. He wanted more. So I told him that we would go look at the movie store and try to rent one for his stay at Kevin and Suzanne's. Nobody has it to rent. It was pretty sad. But I couldn't keep from laughing when he said, "I want to get Chickendale!"

By the way, Kevin has a motorcycle and a pick up truck. No one can beat that!

Well, I think we are going to make it through this new phase. It can only be described as a "Backtalking phase". No matter what we say to him, he has something not very nice to say back. This has been going on for about a week. He has spent so much time in his room, he'll be receiving mail there.

I attribute it to his lack of sleep. We have been fighting him for awhile on this sleep issue. I fear that it is getting better only to fall apart again during the excitement of Christmas. At least Shawn and I are going out of town for a couple of days. Yippee!

We went to see Santa on Thursday. Josh did so great. He was a little shy at first, but he climbed on his lap and took a great picture. Then he got down and told him what he wanted. "A Thomas the Tank Engine Train, a book, and a tape measure." Yes, that's right, a tape measure. Not just any tape measure, a green one like Daddy's. Santa gave Josh a book, so of course, Josh wondered where his train was. We tried to explain that Santa had to go back to the North Pole etc, etc. I think it worked.

We missed church on Sunday, Josh was supposed to sing. We have all got some kind of cough that sounds worse than it is. Josh isn't as bad as us, but it's still a little loud. We also kept going to bed late this weekend. I really don't know why. Josh isn't napping and then we sleep too late the next day. We've got to fix this.

We had an interesting weekend filled with all the twists and turns that you'd expect from Josh. On Wednesday night, we were at Grannie Nanny's and Papa Bill's house. Josh was reading a book with Grannie Nanny and leaned just a little on a table and knocked off an antique lamp. He was so pitiful. He kept apologizing and he cried and cried. He seemed to get the enormity of this particular situation. It was a little stressful for all. The next day, Shawn went to him and said "Josh, I'm sorry you broke that lamp last night, I'm very sad for you." Josh says, "I forgive you."

Friday, we went to the zoo to see the new penguin exhibit. We rode the train with our friends Wil and Elizabeth (and their Momma and Daddy) and colored pictures. It was very fun. Afterward, we went to the Meades' house to eat dinner and play. Josh and Wil had a few scrapes, but all in all things went well.

Saturday, my team lost and I was sad and sad a lot.

Sunday evening, we went to a church "shin dig" and Josh's choir sang two songs. Josh and Elizabeth did very well. Wil opted not to sing.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
