Josh Log

Josh got a bike from G-Pa and Nana! He wasn't sure at first what to do with it. When they brought it over, they had Kayla with him (she is Nana's great-granddaughter) so Josh thought it was hers. It took him a little while to figure it out. Now, he rides it all over. We schlepped it everywhere this weekend. He also has a helmet to wear with it and he looks so cute!

Friday night, we went to the Meade's for dinner and a gift exchange. We really had fun. Josh and Wil enjoy each other so much that it gets a little crazy. Oh, and Josh fell off the top bunk. Not hurt, just scared. I think it scared everyone. He's a little stunt man.

We had a great Christmas! Monday, of course it snowed. I picked Josh up early from school and we played outside. We threw slush balls at the trees and the Mustang. Not at the van and only at the tires, not the windows. Lots of rules for snow ball throwing. We played until his little hands hurt, they were so cold.

Christmas Eve, Grammie came up to stay for a couple of days. Christmas morning, we got up at about 9:00 to open presents. We let Josh open all his first. He got his Thomas train set, which he loved, some Bob the Builder Legos from Aunt Stacey, a book, a tape measure, and some Woody Pajamas. We wish we could have had a camera set up all day in our living room. We changed the layout of the train set about 10 times. I think Shawn and I are having as much fun with it as Josh, especially Shawn, he commented Christmas night, "Today was a great day to be Josh's Daddy".

Monday, December 23, 2002

Sunday afternoon, we were having some quiet time. Shawn was gone and I was reading. Josh looked up at me and says, "Mama, it's nap time now." He was a tired boy.

Saturday, we did some shopping. Josh did fine through the grocery part, but something set him off when we went to pick out a gift for Kamdyn and he turned into a monster. He screamed for about 20 minutes until we got back out to the van. Then he quieted down only to start screaming again when he realized he didn't get to look at Hot Wheels. I told him that he threw a fit and you don't get to look at what you want if you disobey and throw tantrums. When Shawn got home, he says "Daddy, I didn't get to look Hot Wheels today." Why? "I threw a fit."

Saturday evening, we had our Fourth Annual Linfoot-Moore Christmas party. It was fun, although hectic. We have two little messes causing trouble now. Crazy boys.

The nap is the key! Yesterday, I was home all day with Josh and I made him take a nap. He was a totally different kid. Why he thinks he has outgrown naps, I cannot say.

Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, I went with Momma and Daddy Meade to see "The Two Towers" at 12:01 am. It was amazing! I was excited to see it, but also to get out of the house. Josh wanted to go with me though. I told him that it might be too scary for him. He says, "I'll close my ears like this" as he covers his ears with his hands. No go, he stayed home with Daddy and played cards. He told me that they played with "The hearts, the pades, the clovers, and the kites." That would be diamonds.

Baby Aidan came over to play last night. He did really well and Josh was a big help. He understood when I told him that we couldn't get certain things out because they were a little too small for Aidan. "I bigger now, Baby Aidan is ittle."

Monday, December 16, 2002

We're back! We had such a great time! Josh stayed at Suzanne and Kevin's house, of course Baby Aidan was there also. They said that he did really well. Naturally, he would be a perfect little gentleman for somebody else. I suppose that's when it counts.

Wednesday evening, we were watching "The Rescuers" on TV, it's one of my favorites and Josh liked it too. The fun part was, after it was over, there was some time to kill. The station played some "Chip and Dale" cartoons. Josh really loved that. He wanted more. So I told him that we would go look at the movie store and try to rent one for his stay at Kevin and Suzanne's. Nobody has it to rent. It was pretty sad. But I couldn't keep from laughing when he said, "I want to get Chickendale!"

By the way, Kevin has a motorcycle and a pick up truck. No one can beat that!

Well, I think we are going to make it through this new phase. It can only be described as a "Backtalking phase". No matter what we say to him, he has something not very nice to say back. This has been going on for about a week. He has spent so much time in his room, he'll be receiving mail there.
Joshua Linfoot
His bedroom
Tulsa, OK
I attribute it to his lack of sleep. We have been fighting him for awhile on this sleep issue. I fear that it is getting better only to fall apart again during the excitement of Christmas. At least Shawn and I are going out of town for a couple of days. Yippee!

Monday, December 09, 2002

We went to see Santa on Thursday. Josh did so great. He was a little shy at first, but he climbed on his lap and took a great picture. Then he got down and told him what he wanted. "A Thomas the Tank Engine Train, a book, and a tape measure." Yes, that's right, a tape measure. Not just any tape measure, a green one like Daddy's. Santa gave Josh a book, so of course, Josh wondered where his train was. We tried to explain that Santa had to go back to the North Pole etc, etc. I think it worked.

We missed church on Sunday, Josh was supposed to sing. We have all got some kind of cough that sounds worse than it is. Josh isn't as bad as us, but it's still a little loud. We also kept going to bed late this weekend. I really don't know why. Josh isn't napping and then we sleep too late the next day. We've got to fix this.

Monday, December 02, 2002

We had an interesting weekend filled with all the twists and turns that you'd expect from Josh. On Wednesday night, we were at Grannie Nanny's and Papa Bill's house. Josh was reading a book with Grannie Nanny and leaned just a little on a table and knocked off an antique lamp. He was so pitiful. He kept apologizing and he cried and cried. He seemed to get the enormity of this particular situation. It was a little stressful for all. The next day, Shawn went to him and said "Josh, I'm sorry you broke that lamp last night, I'm very sad for you." Josh says, "I forgive you."

Friday, we went to the zoo to see the new penguin exhibit. We rode the train with our friends Wil and Elizabeth (and their Momma and Daddy) and colored pictures. It was very fun. Afterward, we went to the Meades' house to eat dinner and play. Josh and Wil had a few scrapes, but all in all things went well.

Saturday, my team lost and I was sad and sad a lot.

Sunday evening, we went to a church "shin dig" and Josh's choir sang two songs. Josh and Elizabeth did very well. Wil opted not to sing.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Tuesday, November 26, 2002

Shawn and Josh put up a couple strands of Christmas lights last night. Josh saw a house with lights on it and I guess he remembered helping Shawn last year. He was talking about the ladder and everything you need to put up lights. Then he started talking about Santa. We have been telling him for about a month now that he has to ask Santa Claus for a train. He's got it down too. He'll say "I sit on Santa's lap and say, Please can I have a Thomas the Tank Engine choo choo train." It's very sweet and it's all that he wants this year. So, he'll undoubtedly get it.

Last night I was putting Josh to bed. He was resisting pretty fiercely. He was being cool about it though, asking questions, telling me stories, stuff like that. But the best thing that he did was to say, "Mama, can you say I love you and I'll say I love you too?" So, how could I resist that?

Monday, November 25, 2002

I got to go see a movie with Christine yesterday! I have been waiting for a long time to see the new Harry Potter. It was pretty good, it followed the book almost as well as I expected. When I got home, Josh was asleep. When he woke up he says, "You come home now?" Yes. "You see big movie?" Yes. "What you go look at?" I saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. "Ohhhhhhh, Wow, Hazzy Potter and the Cheecrets? Cool!......I pay with trains."

Friday, November 22, 2002

Yesterday, we went to the zoo. With the exception of a small melt down, the trains are closed during the week for winter, he did great. We went in the "climate buildings" for lack of a better description. These include the Arctic Tundra, with a polar bear, Southern Lowlands, with deserts and snakes and stuff, and there is a third one that I can't recall right now. We haven't gone into these buildings in 2 years, so it was kind of like seeing something new. The polar bear was really active, actually all the bears were active.
We also got to see some "Scoops". The workers were putting some finishing landscape touches on the penguin habitat, so the bulldozers were moving lots of dirt. We sat on a bench watching that for about 20 minutes. It was a really great day.

A couple of nights ago, Josh told us that he either was or saw the "globbin". Both Shawn and I had no idea what he was talking about. We kept asking him what he was saying and he kept saying "Globbin". Finally, he says, "The Geen Globbin!" Oh, OK, the Green Goblin from Spiderman. "Yeah, the geen globbin." He hasn't seen Spiderman.

Wednesday, November 20, 2002

I just read Christine's post over on twinlog and wanted to share a similar story. One time, Josh wanted me to play with him. "Paysume, Mama" (that's play with me in Josh language) and he had gathered his scoops and his construction crane. I had no idea what to do. He gave me the dump truck and told me to "have it". I just rolled it back and forth in a lame attempt to play trucks. I can do Little People, sometimes lightsabers, and I can do a pretty wicked imitation of Roz on Monsters, Inc. My gun, however, is sad. I tend to "fire" with my index finger, which is also the barrel of the gun. Now Barbies...I can play Barbies. Unfortunately, Josh won't play with Barbies.

Tuesday, November 19, 2002

Last night, Shawn was watching the movie "Ali" (which by the way, we are glad we didn't pay to see) and of course Josh was wondering what he was watching. So the rest of the night, Josh wanted to play "Boxes" with Daddy. "Daddy, let's play boxes."
Also, the silly voice was better last night. Yippee!

Monday, November 18, 2002

I had a pretty fun weekend. Friday night and Saturday morning, I got to scrapbook with Christine. That was so much fun! On the other hand, Josh is driving me nuts! He has developed this voice that he has started to use in everyday speech. It is a silly voice and it's really low. I can't describe it, it just bugs me. I think he picked it up at school. Shawn and I have told him that he can use it with his friends, but not with Mama and Daddy.

Friday, November 15, 2002

I can't believe I haven't reported on this before. When Josh watches videos, he has to gather the corresponding toys or books. For example, for Thomas the Tank Engine, he has a catalog with pictures. For Bob the Builder, he has all his "Scoops". For Star Wars, he'll get a "lightsaber". Yesterday morning, we were watching Bob the Builder and he was gathering his construction vehicles. It took longer than he expected, and by the time he had them all, the show was over. He freaked.

Monday, November 11, 2002

Josh woke up last night at 2:00 screaming that there was a spider. "There's a pider, a pider!" So Shawn got up and turned on the light and looked for the spider. Thank God there wasn't one. Neither Shawn nor myself deal well with spiders.
This morning, I asked Josh about the incident, and he does not remember. He said he slept well and didn't see a spider. OK.

Friday, November 08, 2002

Lately, I'm feeling really close to my son. He is growing up so fast. We had a great day at the zoo yesterday and it was like we knew we were just hanging out. We weren't in any rush to do anything or see anything in particular. We were just feeling the love.

Josh got a haircut yesterday, and I love this woman. Her name is Sally and she works at Curt's Cutters. She knows how to talk to kids. She let him turn on her clippers and look in the mirror. She explained to me how his hair grows so I can comb it a certain way and it'll lay better. I was most impressed. So was Josh, he got a sucker.

Wednesday, November 06, 2002

We had a nice dinner out last night. I have been really wanting ribs lately, so I talked Shawn into Tony Roma's. Shawn came home early and we went to pick Josh up. We got to the restaurant and as Josh was getting out of the van he says, "Mama, I love you." Then he went up to Shawn and told him, "I love you too." Very nice. He also ate all his dinner and behaved well. Yippee!

Josh has been trying to con Joshua Turnbull into coming over to his house. Every evening when I pick him up it's "Joshy Turnbull, you come to my house, I have candy for you. It be fun." Poor Mr. Turnbull just wants his mama. Maybe we need to have a playdate soon.

Monday, November 04, 2002

We had another great weekend. Saturday, Shawn worked early in the day, so that I could go to a candle party at Christine's. Then Christine & I thought we should order pizza and play Star Wars trivial pursuit. So Shawn and Josh came over and we ate. The kids played really great together while the adults played the game. I won't say who won.

Sunday, I woke up with a terrible migraine so we missed church. Shawn and Josh went to a train show together. Shawn said that they had a really good time. Josh only had one or two melt downs. He was pretty much Daddy's boy on Sunday, until I put him to bed. He told me to "Give me kisses." and when I leaned up to kiss him, he says "I love you Mama." What a way to end the day.

Friday, November 01, 2002

We went trick or treating last night on Ryan and Amy's street. Josh really got into it again this year. The cutest thing was that he kept checking out what he got in his pumpkin. "Mama! I got candys!" or "I got 2 suckers, a purple one and another one purple." We went to a house that had suckers in the bowl, Josh says "Trick or treat I want that one sucker!" Suckers are apparently the way to go.

Wednesday, October 30, 2002

Josh helped "fold" clothes last night. He basically wads them up into a little ball. But the cute thing is, after he's done, he smoothes out the top. I guess he wants to make sure all the wrinkles are out before he shoves the shirt into his drawer.

Monday, October 28, 2002

We had so much fun this weekend! Saturday morning, we went to Aidan's birthday party. No major activities, just fun. Josh really wanted to help Aidan open his presents and we had to stop that, but we enjoyed the time with the Moore's. On Sunday evening, we went trick or treating at the zoo. It was great! The weather wasn't really bad and all three kids (Wil, Elizabeth, and Josh) behaved very well. Josh and Wil wanted to walk together, they are the cutest. Of course, they got a lot of candy. Josh wanted to bring it all to school this morning and share. We really didn't have enough for that (since we took out all the Jolly Ranchers), but I gave him some to take with him. He's a pretty good sharer with candy...toys are another story.

Friday, October 25, 2002

Joshua knows to dial 9-1-1 if there is a fire. At least, that's what he tells us. He points to a fire hydrant and says "If fire hot, call 911 and say I need help". We try to explain to him that there are other reasons to call, but never ever call as a joke. When is it too soon to explain that stuff to kids?

Wednesday, October 23, 2002

Josh likes to mop the floor. Actually, it's not so much the mopping that he likes as it is squirting the spray cleaner. But he'll tell me, "Mama, the house is dirty, I need to mop." I guess that's close to what I say when I clean.

Monday, October 21, 2002

Lots to report today. Josh had his first sleepover this weekend. Friday night, his cousin Ethan (almost 6) came over to spend the night. It was crazy, but they had a good time. Josh wanted Ethan to come back over on Sunday night, nope.
We went to church on Sunday morning and as we came in, the service had already started and Josh could hear the music. Last week, when he sang, he got to be in the sanctuary for praise and worship time so he knew what it was about. Needless to say, he wanted to go in there again. I went ahead and let him and he was real good until the prayer, then he whispered to Shawn, "I want to go to church." So Shawn took him to HIS church.
Late last night, Josh and I were watching Toy Story 2 and the Barbie character came on. Josh says, "Look Mama, Barbie-cue!" Later in the movie, she comes on again and I asked him who that was, "It's Barbie-cue" Awesome!!!

Friday, October 18, 2002

We went to the zoo yesterday. We were supposed to go with Suzanne and Aidan, but Aidan was sick. Josh was sad, but happy that we still went. We rode the train, which is his favorite part. The lions and baby snow leopard had a lot to say yesterday as well. Josh can make a great snow leopard sound. Of course, we also played on the playground. They have this equipment shaped like a spider web. Josh calls it a spider rope. In fact, he calls real spider webs, spider ropes. I love that.

Wednesday, October 16, 2002

Josh is very into pockets these days. He wants his pants to have pockets on them. He doesn't put much in the pockets, except a rock or a stick or something. I guess he just needs to know that they are there.

Monday, October 14, 2002

Great weekend! We went to see Jonah with Grammie on Saturday. We really liked it, except that the fire alarm went off right before Jonah got swallowed (unfortunate coincidence). Josh was a little concerned after that, but we made it through. Then on Sunday, Josh sang at church with the little choir. So cute! They sang twice and he didn't sing the first time. He just stared at a little girl named Alivia. Shawn said to me, "I think he's going to kiss her!" But he didn't. He sang and did the little motions during the next service. He was so sweet.

Friday, October 11, 2002

Josh was "reading" books to me yesterday and this morning. He would tell me what was in the picture and then say, "See, Mama, see the pictures?"

Wednesday, October 09, 2002

This could be long. We had a really interesting discussion last night at bed time. Here goes...remember, the lights are out and it's 10:00 pm.
Josh: It's time to go to work. I drive the van now.
Mama: You want to DRIVE the van?
Shawn: Come on Mama, let him drive your van.
Mama: No.
Shawn: Josh, you can drive the Mustang.
Josh: OK, I drive the Mustangs, I've got to get my phone (He gets up out of bed in the dark and clips his nonworking cell phone to his Buzz Lightyear pajamas)
Mama: It's not time to get up yet, it's night time.
Josh: I give Daddy kisses, then I go to work in the Mustangs. (He leaves)
Shawn: Let's drive tomorrow...OK?
Josh: I sleep in you bed.

Friday, October 04, 2002

We have had some funny stuff said and done lately. I can't even remember all of it. Last night though, Josh had to...well...poop, and it took him a couple of tries to go. Finally, he went and as he flushed and "stuff" went down he says, "Help me!" in a "The Fly" sort of voice, and he hasn't even seen it.

Wednesday, October 02, 2002

Josh has been comparing a lot lately. Like, "Mama, we got the same hands." or "You got cheeseburger like me!" It's really cute to watch the understanding and wonder in his face.

Josh and I were singing "Row, Row, Row your Boat" the other night and we started putting in different words than boat. One of my favorites that Josh used was, "Row, Row, Row your Daddy" He seemed to understand the comedy in it.

Monday, September 30, 2002

On Saturday, Josh was sitting on the couch playing. He looks up at me and says, "Mama, are you my friend?" I said "Of course I'm your friend and your Mama." He says, "I love you."

Friday, September 27, 2002

Josh and I have been having a great time lately. He did much better at choir, (although he did flash everyone, Yikes!) and he's been very helpful around the house. He even brought the trash can back up from the curb yesterday. That was sweet! We played a "Marvle game" which involves counting flat glass marbles and making shapes and numbers with them. And we took turns being "Siper" (Swiper) and Dora. I would say "Swiper no swiping!" and Josh would say "Oh man!" then we'd switch. Big fun.

Wednesday, September 25, 2002

On my birthday, Shawn sent me flowers. So when I brought them home, I explained to Josh that Daddy got those for me for my Happy Birthday. Later that night, when Shawn was putting him to bed he says, "Daddy, you get fo'wers fo' Mama Happy Birthday?" "Yes" "Good job!"

Monday, September 23, 2002

There is a lot to say this week, I won't be able to say it all today. We went to the city to prepare for and hold an estate sale for my grandparents' belongings. Josh stayed with G-pa and Nana. We got nothing but good reports. Yippee! We know he was spoiled by them and that's great, it's what they are supposed to do.

Our weekend wasn't so relaxing. It was hard work! We got no sleep on Friday night (2 hrs) then we were up at 5:30 to start the sale at 6:00. It was non-stop people until 6:00 pm. It was really hard to watch people rummage through my grandparents' home. We heard some great stories though, and I got proof positive that my Memaw's legacy of love will live on.

Wednesday, September 18, 2002

Josh has been telling me stuff like, "I not hit peoples anymore." or "I not spit anymore." He does still sometimes hit and spit, so I'm not sure if he just really wants to obey us or if he knows that is what we want to hear. I haven't figured it out yet, but to listen to his proclamations is pretty cute.

Monday, September 16, 2002

Last night, Josh pooped in his underwear. He also did it in the afternoon. But last night, after I had cleaned him up, he stood up and said "OK, spank me now." I'm thinking we are going to need a new punishment. Maybe taking away his Scoops.

We fed Suzanne's animals this weekend, Josh enjoyed helping. I would say, "Let's go feed Suzanne's kitty." I would only say kitty, because we have cats and I thought he could relate better. But then he would say, "And Whisper!" their dog. He'd stand at the gate and hold the cup for me and he'd talk to Whisper and tell her, "There you go, eat your food now."

I think Josh and I have made it past this phase. I know there will be more to go through, but I know now that we can do it. We had a really good weekend with a zoo trip and church. We got to play at the Meades' house on Sunday. Josh and Wil still have a pretty volatile relationship, but it's not as frustrating as i once was. To me, at least, it's kind of cute. They are working out some of their differences on their own instead of having our intervention. We still have a hard time saying goodbye without a mess. Our playdates usually end with Wil and Josh being upset at each other, but not so upset that they don't want to play. It's actually kind of funny.

Friday, September 13, 2002

OK, the "I can't wait to see what will happen." statement from Wednesday...well for those that weren't there, it was horrible! For some reason, Josh was unhappy that I wasn't in the room, but when I came in, he acted like a freak of nature. He would jump around, play guns, play kitty, lay on floor, and then look at me, knowing he was misbehaving. He and I have been going through a battle of wills and frankly, on Wednesday, he won. We left choir practice 15 minutes early and I got in the van and cried. His behavior has never made me that frustrated before. He was very upset that I was crying and asked, "Why you cry?" and I had to tell him that his disobeying at "singing class" made Mama sad. Having said all that, Thursday was pretty good. Josh didn't take a nap, but he was very cooperative almost all day. He was good at the grocery store and helped me make pizza that evening. I love him so much.

Wednesday, September 11, 2002

Last night, we saw a scoop heading for the grass. Josh says, "He's going home to go night-night with his fam-y (family)" It was really sweet. We have our first choir practice tonight for the 3s and 4s. I can't wait to see what will happen. Josh and Wil are going to be together and it could get crazy.

Monday, September 09, 2002

I'm exhausted! Josh wore me out this weekend. I was desparate for a break. I don't know what the deal was, he was really hyper and moody. He is learning to follow directions better. He was able to go get something for Shawn with minimal fuss. He maximized his fussing later though. It could be that Shawn hasn't been home all week and we're both missing him. Who knows!?!!

Friday, September 06, 2002

Josh plays "Kitty". He goes deep into character when he plays Kitty. He meows and crawls and everything. Even when I get onto him, he'll still meow when he's crying. It's Oscar worthy.

Wednesday, September 04, 2002

What an exhausting weekend! We went to the city to help my uncle sort through my grandparents stuff. A word to all you clutter bugs (including myself) go through your stuff now. What a mess.

Josh and I have caught a cold from somewhere and aren't feeling too well. He's better than me. He's been really sweet these past couple of days. He said, "I love you Mama." and I said "I love you Joshy" he says, "No you say, love you TOO". He's also been climbing on my lap and saying "Love, I need love".

And the biggest announcement, I told him no about something last night and he started to get his "gun" out and then he said, "Look Mama, I put my gun away." and he put it in his pocket. Finally! We're getting past the gun stage.....maybe.

Wednesday, August 28, 2002

I don't think Josh understands the concept of choices. I ask him what he wants, i.e. "Corn Dog or Cheeseburger" and he usually chooses both. He'll finally pick one and when it comes out, he'll say, "My cheeseburger!" and it's a corn dog. Whatever.

Tuesday, August 27, 2002

The Scoops were out in full force this morning. Since I didn't have to be anywhere at a certain time today, I let Josh watch until they took a break. He really enjoyed it. He had his toy Scoop out and was following along with the full size scoop. It was pretty cute. I tried to get a couple of pictures, I hope they turn out good.

Monday, August 26, 2002

Saturday night, Josh asked Shawn for some milk. Shawn stood there a moment until Josh said please. Later, it was Shawn's turn to lay down with Josh at bed time. Josh told Shawn to rub his back. Shawn said "Ask nicely", Josh says, "I did please for the milk"

Friday, August 23, 2002

Speaking of Little People, Josh carried them to bed in his shoe last night. You can get 3 Little People, the bus driver, Michael, and Sonya Lee, in a size 10 1/2 sandal.

On Wednesday, I took Josh to the playground. He ended up pooping in his underwear. He gets in big trouble for that since he'll look right at you and tell you he is not pooping. Anyway, we were talking about spanking yesterday and he said, "No spank me" I told him that sometimes Mama and Daddy spank when you disobey, but we love you very much. He seemed to get it. Later, he was playing with his Little People, and he took them to the bathroom and spanked them. I asked him why they were getting a spanking. "Dey poo poo in de unnerwear." Then he hugged them and told them "Yuv you too".

We had "noonules" (I don't know how to spell noodles the way he says it) last night. He only ate one before he was done. After he and Shawn went to look at the Scoops that are parked all over our neighborhood, Josh decided he wanted dinner. He wanted them cold. After he ate a few, he offered me one, Cold! I told him no thank you, I ate my noodles at dinner time. He took one on his fork and "swam" it over to me, like I do when I want him to eat one more bite. Cold noodles and spaghetti sauce? Never again.

Wednesday, August 21, 2002

Josh: "I seep in you bed tanight"
Mama: "No"
Josh: "When sun wake up?"
Mama: "Yes, when the sun wakes up, you can come cuddle with me."
Josh: "I seep in you bed?"
Mama: "No"
Josh: "Lay down wif me a minute?"
Mama: "OK"
Josh: "Rub my back."

Monday, August 19, 2002

Josh comes up to me on Sunday and points an extended tape measure at me, "Mama, show me your worst". I think he got it off of Larry-Boy and the Angry Eye Brows.

We got our new van! Josh is already spoiled. He wants to watch something every time we get in it. I'll admit, it is pretty cool. When we got to church on Sunday, Josh went in his class and Wil says, "Josh, I so happy to see you!" Josh: "We got new van".

Friday, August 16, 2002

Yesterday was an awesome day! We went to Big Splash water park with Suzanne, Aidan, and her friends Myumi and Nina. We played in the kid's area a lot. They have a few cool slides for kids, like a dinosaur and frog. There is also 3 floating toys that they love to climb on and push around. After our friends left, we went in the wave pool. I can't believe he was so brave! He was sitting on the tube, holding the handles and I was leaning on the other side holding the buckle to his life jacket so he wouldn't fall off. We played through 3 wave cycles and on the last one, Josh started falling asleep! His head got real heavy and I noticed him leaning on me a lot. I'd ask him if he was falling asleep and he'd look up with an impish grin and say, "Noooooo, I not seeping" But then he'd giggle like he was teasing me. We had such a great day!

Rain! Rain! Rain! We were supposed to go to the playground last night to play, yep you guessed it, Scoop! Josh at least sort of understood and found a way to play inside. Our van is in! Yippee! We're going to pick it up on Friday morning. They have to tint the windows and put the trailer hitch on it. We are so excited.

Josh used to say "Yeah" quite a bit. I've told him to say Yes since sometimes his "Yeah" sounds like "Uhhhhh" so we can't tell if he has to potty, or he's hungry or whatever. I'm thinking that they have worked with him at school also, because now he says "Yesth"

He also wants to "show you somsing" all the time. It's never really anything exciting, but it's KIND OF cute. This morning, at 7:25 Scoop was outside. I had 10 more minutes to sleep. Josh jumped up, "Mama, Scoop! Outside!" He ran out there to look. A few seconds later, I hear, "Mama, you missing it!" I wanted to miss it, I only had 10 minutes left to sleep.

Monday, August 12, 2002

Josh has been singing "Little Bunny Foo Foo" a lot lately. I'm having a hard time remembering the words and Josh sings it differently than we used to as kids. It's still very cute to watch him "Bop em on the head".

Friday, August 09, 2002

There is some water line construction going on around our house. Josh loves watching the "Scoop" work. This morning, Scoop wasn't out there. Josh cupped his hands to his mouth and yells "SCOOOOOOP! Where are you?"

Yesterday, we all had eye doctor appointments. This was Josh's first eye exam. He didn't answer many of the questions, but he looked up and down and side to side very well. The doctor said that he was 1 1/4 points (or something) farsighted, which is what they want to see at this age. Shawn had some problems with lazy eye and stretched retinas, so we were worried about our kids. It looks like he'll take after me and not need glasses until after age ten. Yippee!

Wednesday, August 07, 2002

Josh has lately been using the phrase, "Oh my gosh!!" I know that we say it some, we definitely don't say God in place of gosh, but I don't think we say it in the dramatic way that he does. He also wants to call people a lot, especially G-Pa, but when someone calls and wants to talk to him, he won't. I don't get it.

Monday, August 05, 2002

A Wild Weekend! Friday night, we went out to eat with G-Pa and Nana to a chicken/catfish place. Josh ate an entire piece of catfish. I'm not very happy about that, I can't stand the stuff. If he'd eat it broiled, I'd make it at home. I refuse to fry the stuff in my house. Later, Eric, Cindy, Emily, Ethan and Evan came over to give Josh his birthday present. It was a cool drum set from FAO, it had a marching drum, xylophone, tambourine, maracas, and a recorder (flute type thing). He kept saying, "I like it birthday present!"

Saturday, I cleaned out the kitchen cabinets and put contact paper down on most of the shelves. I was exhausted. Shawn took Josh to look at the hot air balloons and then they were going to go to the bookstore. Josh decided that he wanted to go see Frank. They didn't get home until midnight.

Sunday, Josh was not nice! He threw fit after fit after fit until we had enough! We made him lay down until he went to sleep. When he woke up, he was much nicer. We went to Sonic for dinner and Josh told us he wanted "Cheesburger, fench fies, tatie tots, cherry spite and that's it!" Later, he was counting and he says "21, 22, 23, 27, 20 dollars" Pretty cute. Then in his bath he wanted me to come in and get him some paints. So I did. Then he said "Mama, let's pray. Thank you God for these paints" I don't know why he's praying about paints, but it was sweet.

Friday, August 02, 2002

Yesterday was Josh's 3 year check up and yes, he needed a shot. He also had to have his hemoglobin rechecked. So, they poked his finger AND his leg. For the rest of the day he was telling me "I got poke, I cwy" over and over. He would have this little pout on his face when he told me. Very pitiful.

Wednesday, July 31, 2002

Josh has officially moved into his big boy bed! Yes, for about 2 1/2 years he has been sleeping with us. While he is a very sweet, cuddly sleeper, he is getting too big. We've been telling him for awhile that when he turned three, he was going to be moving into his bed and that we would get him some sheets w/ trucks, etc. So, for his birthday those were some of his gifts. He also got a clock with buses and cars and a stoplight lamp. He's been in there for 4 nights now and he's sleeping much better I think.

Monday, July 29, 2002

Happy Birthday to Josh! We had a very fun weekend that culminated in his 3rd birthday party. On Saturday, we went to the bookstore. Josh played so well with the other kids. He remembered that he needs to share. He was very good. On Sunday, we went to church. We were a little late, so when Shawn dropped Josh off at his class, he told him to be very quiet since class had started. Josh was quietly entering the room when Wil stood up, threw his hands in the air and yelled, "JOOOOOSSSSHHHHH!!!"

Sunday evening we went to the fire station and took a short tour for Josh's party. They climbed in the trucks and were a little startled by the sirens. After that, we went to the playground and played on the equipment and had snowcones and cake and opened presents. We had a smaller group than last year (Yippee!), and Josh was very excited about each one in attendance. We had the Meades, the Moores, Ethan and G-pa, Grammie, Uncle Ryan, Aunt Amy, and Baby "Quiet" (Wyatt), and Josh's friend from school, "My Joshua Turnbull" and his mom. One of the cutest things that happened was that after everyone sang "Happy Birthday, dear Josh" Joshua says, "That's me! It's my happy birthday!" Also, Wil sang it about 4 times, it was great.

Friday, July 26, 2002

Josh has learned to ride a tricycle! He would scoot on it without pushing the pedals, but on Wednesday night he figured it out. He can even go backwards. The look on his face when he realized what he did was priceless! I got some pictures, but I know they won't capture that sparkle in his eyes.

Wednesday, July 24, 2002

Last night was almost fantastic. Shawn was gone on business and I decided to finish up some shopping for Josh's birthday party. Since Josh was good during that, we went to the bookstore to play with the trains. He plays really well until some of the other kids put their trains down and walk off. He thinks that means that possession has ended and he no longer needs to share. The little boy asked him very nicely if he could have one of the train cars and Josh threw a lovely tantrum. So, we had to leave. We did have an hour and fifteen minutes that I could sit and read. We survived.

Tuesday, July 23, 2002

Josh had to be picked up from school yesterday. He was running a fever. He did this 3 weeks ago, except he had a cough then. He had a fever until yesterday evening and then, nothing. I hope it lasts, when he is sick like this he doesn't act sick. I keep him home and he runs around like nothing is wrong. I did get to pick him up in Darryl's PT Cruiser. He thinks he is big stuff.

Monday, July 22, 2002

Big Weekend! Josh went to Wil and Elizabeth's birthday party on Saturday. It was a Clifford theme. Christine is "Mother Extraordinaire" she was willing to have the guests attend without their parents! We were the only parents to take her up on that! Amazing! Josh had a great time.

After that, Shawn and I had some work to do, so we dropped Josh off at G-pa and Nana's house. We walked in and everyone was there. Josh got to play with Ethan, who he calls Emily (we're working on that) and he played outside and ate cantaloupe. It was all good!

Friday, July 19, 2002

My favorite Joshism is "Sunbright" all one word and pronounced "Shunbwight". This is used in place of "sun". i.e., "Where shunbwight go?"

We also got a letter from the Meade twins yesterday. It was pretty cute. I'm trying to get him to write one back, there's still hope.

Wednesday, July 17, 2002

Josh has been watching "Blue's Big Musical Movie" a lot lately. There is a part on that where Periwinkle (the Cat) is looking for Steve and calls "Steve, where are you? I want to show you my magic trick." Well, Josh when he is looking for me will yell "Mama, Where are you? I need show you my trick!"

He has also moved up to the 3's at school. He gets to play on the big playground and he has been reunited with his friends Olivia and Garrett. He's very excited about it.

Monday, July 15, 2002

We went to the city this weekend, just Josh and I. We spent some time with my sister and her family, they were down for her 10 year class reunion. Her boy is 6 months old and he is so pretty. Josh called Shawn on the phone on Sat. night and he talked so much! He talked about what movies he has watched and about fish toys and pianos and just stuff. It was really cute.

He wants to go back to the book store. He asks all the time. Sometimes he says, "I want to go to the store book." Very funny.

Friday, July 12, 2002

We had quite an adventure on Wednesday. It stormed suddenly and of course, our electricity went off. We decided that we'd go to the book store since it was getting hot in our house, no lights, etc. First, Josh peed on the floor, then just after we got him (and the floor) cleaned up, the lights went out there. Josh freaked out! It got dark, he couldn't see the trains that he was playing with, it was all bad.

I keep thinking that there is something I've forgotten, but maybe I'll remember it later.

Wednesday, July 10, 2002

Sorry that it's been so long. We had a great 4th. We spent the evening at the Meades, eating hamburgers and homemade ice cream. The kids did sparklers and watched the neighbors do the bigger stuff. They had fun.

Josh has been sick this week. He was sick on Sunday with a fever and a cough. He was finally able to go back to school today. He didn't act sick, but he kept saying, "I tired". I would give hem medicine and he'd say, "For my cough?" Then later he'd bring me his water or whatever, and say, "Here, Mama, fo' you cough" and he'd help me sip it.

Oh, and he also told Shawn on Monday, "Have a good weekend!" Shawn was going back to work after lunch. (I think this was the scenario) Pretty cute.

Wednesday, July 03, 2002

Josh helped me make pizza last night. I like to use the Chef Boy Ar Dee pizza kit. You have to add mozzarella and any meat topping that you want, but the crust is great and it makes a lot. Josh likes to help me put the cheese and pepperonis on. He is getting really good at sprinkling the cheese and he almost puts as many pepperonis on as he eats. This is interesting since he doesn't always eat the pepperoni when it's baked on the pizza.

Tuesday, July 02, 2002

Josh likes to go to the gym with me. He really enjoys playing in the kids' area. They have lots of blocks and he enjoys playing with different kids. I feel bad about taking him there after I've already left him at school all day. I console myself that I only do it once a week and he's seeing Mama TRY to get back into shape. I don't know if I've been successful at this consoling though.

Monday, July 01, 2002

Josh is almost potty trained! Yippee! He still has a couple of accidents every once in awhile, but he is really doing well. We bought 3 kinds of character underwear and he likes them all. Of course Star Wars is one of them.

On Friday, I dropped Josh off at school and I noticed that the school bird, Jack was "sleeping really hard". Saying goodbye to the bird is a going home routine for a lot of the kids, including us. So I thought about it and called the director and asked if I could replace him. She was happy about that, she was pretty attached to him. So, 13 bucks later, we have Jackie. She's pretty cute although I worried about her all weekend long. Goofy!

Sunday, Josh was kind of a Daddy's boy. I got him in trouble a couple of times and I guess he thought he was justified in shifting loyalties. Shawn suggested that we go get ice cream as a treat (Josh helped him "mow" the lawn) Josh told me to "stay here". I didn't get to go, but that was actually OK with me.

Friday, June 28, 2002

Yesterday was busy! We went to see the Meade's new home. Josh enjoys running with Wil, they have fun being boys. Then we went to visit the Jennings at their hotel. We went swimming with Aunt Suzanne, Aidan, Tabby and Reagan Jennings, and Regina. The Jennings' new son is a few weeks old and very little. Josh is still sitting on the steps and not getting in the water much. Oh well.

Last night, we went to the twilight tour in Broken Arrow. We went with the Meades and the Meades in law. I think we kept them out too late, although not intentionally. You get that many people trying to look at new homes with a lot of other people and it's going to be crazy. I think that it was basically a good night for everyone.

Wednesday, June 26, 2002

I have been going to the gym regularly again lately, the other night I came back and was going to take a bath. I cannot take one without an audience. It is kind of cute though. Josh wants me to take a bath like he does. He'll ask me if I want to pick a color (bath tints) or if I want my toys, or if I want to paint Bob and Larry. Then he'll sit on the toilet seat like I do and "read" a book. I tell him to go play, that's what he tells me when he doesn't want me to be in there with him. He wants to stay with me.

Monday, June 24, 2002

We had a pretty good weekend even though Shawn wasn't home much. I can't even remember why it was good, except Josh was a good boy. We did have a problem with a cereal box prize. We bought some honey nut Cheerios and it came with a lightsaber pen. We happened to get a red one. Josh looked on the back of the box and decided that he wanted the blue one. I told him he only got one and it was red. He thought he could put it back and pull out the blue one. I'm very sad now that I read this that he had such a hard time. He was trying to be cooperative by putting the red one back. Now I'm depressed.

Friday, June 21, 2002

Playground all day yesterday! We went with Aidan in the morning. Josh kept looking around for him as he was not there yet. "Baby Aidan, where are you?" They didn't play a whole lot together, Josh is old enough to run wild around the equipment and Aidan can't yet. He was happy to see him though.

Then we went for a last trip to Austin's for frozen custard with most of the Meades. They are moving and I am sad. I'm acting like they are moving to the Ukraine or something and they are only going across town. Josh and the twins played on the playground for awhile after we ate our dessert. It was fun.

Later, Josh and I watched some of our video I've taken of Easter, Josh's marching band, and our trip. I am not the best camera operator there is and my commentary is a little interesting. Shawn is the household's videographer, he uses the fader and all that stuff. Of course, I'm usually filming while watching Josh and carrying everything and trying to take still pictures for my scrapbook. So, it's an excuse.

Wednesday, June 19, 2002

We went to the downtown library last night. Shawn wanted to go to a town meeting regarding the MAPS project, so I thought that Josh might like to go read books. HA! All he wanted to do was run around, look at the water fountain and type. An hour and a half (and many fits) later, we finally left. We did end up with 4 books on bugs and music and a bottle of water. Crazy kid.

Monday, June 17, 2002

We have been on vacation this last week. We had such a great time! We went to Dallas and then San Antonio. We ate out at Crystal's Pizza. It's a sentimental thing for us, we grew up with it. It is good pizza though. We ate at the Traildust restaurant, great ribs. We ate at EZ's burgers, Casa Rio on the Riverwalk, Willie's, Ruth's Chris, and of course, Chick-Fil-A. We went to Sea World, the Zoo, the Alamo, the Riverwalk, the Children's Museum, Game Works, and we played at the pool every day. If you want details, call me!

Wednesday, June 05, 2002

Josh knows how to make Kool-Aid! He knows how many scoops of sugar we need and he helps stir. He also picks the color.

Yesterday, I went to drop off some pull ups at daycare and he saw me. Yikes! He was not taking a nap and he was out in the front office. I hated to leave him again. Then of course at home, he was a bear since he didn't have a nap. He wanted to watch Bob, the Frankencelery one. Then I put it on and he says, "No, it scare me!" He's never been scared by it before. It was a mess.

Finally, Shawn came home and that helped.

At bath time, I was taking a bath first and Josh came in and saw a bug. "Daddy, come ere, a poly-oly! Poly-oly Daddy!" It was a roly-poly. They got it and flushed it.

Monday, June 03, 2002

We went to see VeggieTales Live on Saturday. We went with the Meades and the Moores. It was a lot of fun, I think Aidan enjoyed the most.

Shawn has been gone a lot the last 4 days and that has made Josh and I a little tired of each other. In fact, I needed a time out from life. But, through all of that, the fits, the crying, uncooperative stuff, Josh is my boy. I went to the store on Sunday evening, I was gone 30 minutes. When I got back, he was standing at the door and gave me a big smile when he saw me, like he was waiting just for me. It puts it all in perspective.

Wednesday, May 29, 2002

This weekend was a lot of fun. We got to finally see the Meades on Saturday. We played outside and even though Josh fell down and skinned his shin, we had fun. Wil, who is very sympathetic, asked "Josh, why you cry?", I told him he fell on the sidewalk, "Poor my friend" he says. So sweet. Of course then both Wil and Elizabeth had sidewalk stories to tell. Later, we had snow cones to eat. They all ordered by color, not flavor. Christine says that she has outgrown Bubblegum flavoring. Me too.

Monday, we went to see Monsters, Inc. again. Shawn hadn't see it yet. It is still hysterically funny! Josh did very well in the theatre, he lasted until there were only ten minutes left of the movie before getting squirmy. He now will scream "Mike Wazowski!" So fun.

Friday, May 24, 2002

Wednesday evening, Josh and Shawn went to the store. Shawn said they had a great time. They walked down the aisles and Josh would ask, "What's that?" and Shawn would answer him. Some of the things Josh knew and would point and say "Pickles, apples, bernanas." They even tried a "Ku-kat" kumquat, Shawn said they were very sour and Josh spit it out. Shawn also named what they needed and what they already had in the basket, "We've got grapes, sugar, pretzels, what else do we need?" Josh "Jelly beans & candies".

Yesterday, we were home all day. We were supposed to go see the Meades, but Elizabeth was sick. Josh was SO whiny, he wore me out. I think his allergies were bothering him.

Wednesday, May 22, 2002

Yesterday was a pretty good day. Josh was very easy going and helpful. He cleaned up his toys and brought me my shoes. "Here de go Mama" He wore his sandals "Like you Mama, like Collin?" They gave him blisters, but he wanted to wear them again this morning. I put band aids on his feet, I hope he does OK. He is a fun, sweet, sweet boy.

Monday, May 20, 2002

It's been awhile since I've updated, but we had a very crazy and sad week. Our Memaw passed away on May 15 and we've been in the city. We did get to see my sister and her baby and that was nice. He has a LOT of hair! He is almost too pretty to be a boy.

Josh has seen me cry way too much recently. One night, Friday I think, he asked me twenty or more times if I was OK. It was cute for awhile and then I just wanted to go to sleep. I would answer him and then he'd ask again. Sweet boy though.

Also, we have been watching "marchingband", in Joshese it's all one word, many times. Josh gets his drum that has a strap to hang it around his neck and he plays it while standing in front of the TV. He sways back and forth like they do and drums, sometimes even to the beat.

Tuesday, May 14, 2002

Last night, we went to the mall. I did some shopping and then of course, we rode the horsies (carousel) & had ice cream. He has been using this really sweet voice lately when talking to me. I wish I could describe it. He looks at me and says stuff like, "Mama, you OK?" or "Some?" when he has something & wants to share. If he asks for something and I say no, he'll go through a list of things like "Apple juice? Milk? Water?" Or somtimes he'll ask me if I want those things. So sweet.

Monday, May 13, 2002

We had an interesting weekend. We went to see the musical "Blast!" on Friday. It WAS a Blast! Josh sat through the whole thing almost without even blinking! He loved it! He clapped, he pointed, he asked for more. "I see Bwast. It awesome!"

On a sadder note, my Memaw is in the hospital with liver cancer. We went to visit her and my Uncle Johnny, who was visiting from Arizona. Josh, I hope, brought her a little bit of joy. He talked about seeing "Memaw, Papaw, Unca Johnny" It was as good a visit as it could be.

Then Saturday evening, we went down to Shawn's mom's house to see "Ganny Nanny & Papa Bill" and of course "Pincess" the dog. Josh ended up getting sick that evening and vomiting. He told us that his tummy hurt, but then he'd fall asleep. So it was kind of a surprise when he puked. After that, he seemed fine.

On Sunday, we ate at Applewood's in the city. This place is so good. We waited for 2 hours to be seated though. Actually, we put our name on the list and went to Barnes and Noble.

Friday, May 10, 2002

I forgot to add this morning that last night, Aidan came over to play. He was so excited to see Josh! He hugged and hugged and hugged him. It was so cute. He'd go up and hug Josh and Josh would kiss him. Josh would come over, "Mama, I kiss Aidan!" or "Mama, I hold Aidan hand!" They had a great time!

We'll be spending some time in the city for mother's day. I'm not really sure what the plans are though. We'll be seeing Blast! tonight at the PAC. We have been telling him about the marching band show for a month now and today is finally the day. I have a feeling that we will be buying the DVD and the CD.

Wednesday, May 08, 2002

Josh's school says that he is ready to be potty trained, he tries for them at school but not at home. We'll see. I'm thinking that I'll have to try the "put him in underwear and let him get wet" trick. I'M not ready for that.

Monday, May 06, 2002

We had a pretty good weekend. Josh wasn't feeling too great for some of it though. He ran a low fever Thursday and Friday and it slowed him down a little. He wanted to watch the "Lightsaver movie" about 4 million times. We put an end to it at 2 million. We are going to go see the new Star Wars on opening day. It also happens to be our 10th wedding anniversary. It should be fun!

Wednesday, May 01, 2002

Last night, we went to the playground with Wil and Elizabeth. We really had a good time. Elizabeth wanted to go home and Josh did not want her to leave. "No go bye bye yet, Elibet!" Then that started a whole new activity of trying to decide who was going to ride in the stroller (we didn't bring ours). While that "discussion" was going on, we all climbed the fence to make it closer to the Meade's house. That was very interesting. Wil went over to Sean, then I handed Josh over "I tall" he says. Elizabeth (who was very agreeable in a trying situation) was next, followed by the stroller. Then I climbed over, if you could call it that. Then Christine. I haven't climbed a fence in many years and I'm not sure Christine has either. Our performances were not noteworthy.

Friday, April 26, 2002

Several things today...

Wednesday night - We were reading a book with pictures of animals in it and Josh pretended to take the animals off the page and hug them. He also still has a thing with wipey refill packages. He calls them "baby ipees".

Thursday - We went to the playground and he was playing on the slide. He yells to me "Mama, I find first coo!" he found the first clue, from Blue's Clues. That one really cracked me up. He's also into the movie "Dumbo" now. He calls it "Efant". At the end, when Dumbo flies, Timothy says "We did it!" Josh comes running out of the room and yells, "Mama, efant, train, fwy, we did it!" And runs out. He gets really excited.

Wednesday, April 24, 2002

I picked Josh up from school yesterday and they told me he had bitten two kids. Yikes! I really thought I was going to miss this fun stage. No such luck.

We've gone to the elementary school playground the past two days, he brings his bucket and shovel and fills, empties, and refills his bucket with rocks. I take a book and we sit and do our thing. It's some nice fairly quiet time that we enjoy.

Monday, April 22, 2002

We spent the weekend at Lake Eufaula. We had a pretty good time. We went swimming. Josh sat on the ladder. He only got in once and fell in once. He was reaching for a toy and fell in the water. Of course Shawn and I were right there to get him, but it scared him (and us) a little bit. He didn't want to get in the water after that. He kept wanting to "pay games", play games. He wasn't really playing them, he was just moving the joystick whenever the demo came on. But it did keep him entertained.

After a shower, we let him stay naked for a little bit. He kept shaking his hiney at us. How could we not laugh! It was a lot of fun.

Last night after we got home, Josh was playing with some extra greeting cards that I have. He was telling me that they were "for you Mama" I'd open them up and he'd say "pesents (presents), say to eat jelly beans?" He was trying to tell me (I think) that I got jelly beans for a present and that we should eat some. I guess it was worth a try.

Friday, April 19, 2002

I posted something on Wednesday and forgot to click Publish, Oopsie! There hasn't been anything really newsworthy happen lately except for a few "Allies" (Owies). He seemd to be a little accident prone the last few days. He rarely lets a boo-boo slow him down, though he'll tell you about each one as if it happened a few seconds ago. I do think that one of them was a paper cut on his foot. He told me he had an owie and he was puting his feet on a video box a few moments before that. THAT one slowed him down awhile.

He was extremely snuggly this morning before school. Then when we got to school, he went up and tried to take a truck from another little boy. I got onto him and he freaked out! I stayed a few minutes to calm him down and find him something else to hold. What a mess!

Monday, April 15, 2002

There is a lot to tell today.

Friday - Josh and I went over to babysit the Meade twins. Everyone played very well together and I had no problems with anyone, so great! Shawn came and picked Josh up at about 9:00 pm after I had given everyone a bath. Again, no problems but I wouldn't want to do it everyday. After they left, Wil says, "I need my Josh!" The kids stayed up until Christine got home and they did not whine or anything. When Christine got home, all of a sudden they were tired. It kicked in instantaneously. Crazy!

Saturday - We went out to eat and were going to go shopping, but on the way Josh spotted some flowers. We pulled over at the nursery and let him out to "Mell the fowyers" Then we went shopping. We ran into Garrett again. Later in the evening, we saw a whale on TV. We told Josh that we were going to see the whales on our trip. Josh says "Marching band?" We will be seeing the show Blast! in May. "Yes, baby, after the marching band, we are going on a trip and we'll see whales." Then he gets on my cell phone and starts talking. "Heyo, I Josh, marching band." We asked who he was talking to. "Whale" he says. Shawn asked what the whale's name was. "Poo-peet" WHAT?!!? Then he pretend talked to Grammie and Elizabeth.

Sunday - We went to church. After church, we went to pick Josh up at Sunday School. He wanted to go into the sanctuary. He went and sat down on a pew and reached for a hymnal. We could see him mouthing something about Jesus. It was so cute. Later he helped Daddy mow the backyard. He had his little mower and was wearing a t-shirt and shorts. When he came in, he was not wearing his shirt. When Shawn took his shirt off, so did Josh.

Friday, April 12, 2002

Wednesday after school, Josh and I walked down to the school play ground. Josh's G-pa and Nana took him down the evening before. Since it was nice outside, I wanted to take him again. He didn't want to ride in the stroller, so we actually walked! It took us awhile to get there, but he loves playing. We ran into one of Josh's school friends and Josh played so well with him.

Last evening, we walked to the Meade's house to meet Wil, Elizabeth and "Mama Meade". We walked to the frozen custard stand to have a treat. Elizabeth rode in the stroller and Josh and Wil pushed for a little bit. Then they held hands and walked a (very) few steps in front of us. It was so cute! After we got back to the Meade's house, the kids played outside for a little while. When we went inside, Josh wanted to play with one of Wil's toys. Wil was not real thrilled. We were only going to be there a few more minutes. Wil's mama told WIl that he could share for a little bit (it is a COOL toy) and then Josh would be going home and the toy would stay with Wil (or something like that). Wil said "I want Josh to go home now!" Poor Wil. It's so hard being a little boy sometimes.

Wednesday, April 10, 2002

We were watching "Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed" on Monday night. Josh says, "Afwed is a Bobot" (Alfred is a robot) Later, during bath time. Josh says "Daddy is a nice man."

Last night, we were reading our "Great Dinosaur Search" book. This is the first time we have gotten it out. Josh was able to pick up the point of looking for each animal in the picture right away. I was telling him, very good, when he would find one. So then he would say, "Where one ike dat?", and I would point to it, "Very good Mama!"

Sunday, Josh and I went to see Beauty and the Beast on IMAX. It was awesome! I have never seen a movie in that format before and I was astounded! Josh did really well. He was a little concerned when the beast came on the screen, but he never cried or anything. He kept talking about Chip the tea cup and Gaston. We really had a good time. Josh even said "Chip, big movie" in his sleep last night.

Right before bedtime, Josh wanted to dance. He would get up and shake his bottom a little bit and spin around a couple of times. Then he would say, "Mama, dance." So I danced. Then Daddy came out and Josh wanted him to dance. But we all had to take turns dancing while the others sat on the couch and watched.

Yesterday was fun. Josh and I went to see a friend that I went to high school with, Regina, and her family. They live out of town and were visiting for the day. We went to lunch with her and her daughters, Tabby and Reagan. Josh had fun with them. He kept telling them "Come here girls!". We played with them until Josh got so tired he kept falling down.

Last night, he killed his first spider. It was the size of a grain of sand, but he could still see it. Later, at bedtime, he was reading a book with a rhinocerous in it, "Look Mama, hippo-ot-muss!" he said. I didn't correct him, in fact I kept asking him what it was so he would say it again.

Josh has been enjoying his new books, courtesy of Christine, he especially loves "There's a Mouse About the House". He likes to make the mouse go up the clock. He is still bringing some weird things to bed with him though. Last night it was a baby hair brush and a stuffed fish. I can't keep up!

What a great Easter weekend! On Saturday we went to church to hunt eggs. Josh was a lot better at it this year than last. We didn't have a big enough basket. On Sunday, we drove to my mom's church for worship service and then had dinner with my grandparents. Josh really ate well, he doesn't always. Then we went to visit a former teacher's family. They hadn't seen Josh since he was 4 months old. Next was Shawn's grandparent's house. We missed his grandparents but got to spend time with "Grannie Nanny". On the way home, we played the title track from Nichole Nordeman's This Mystery over and over again. Josh is learning the words to it. I'm constantly amazed at the stuff he does. Lastly, Josh got some great things for Easter. He got books, a Karaoke machine, and "Larry-Boy and the Angry Eyebrows" he was VERY impressed with all of this.

Yesterday, Josh and I had a great day! We needed to do some shopping so we went to the mall. He was very good while I shopped for his Easter clothing and while I looked around a bit. We ate lunch and then went to ride the "horsies"! Our mall has a carousel in it. We've ridden it before, but this time he just laughed and laughed the whole time. He would wave to people and tell them "Bye" as he passed. He looked up at the mechanism and said "Up and then down". The Easter Bunny was close by, so after the ride we went to see him "her?". He didn't want to get too close, but he waved and told him "You fuzzy"! He fell asleep on the way home with his new "Tungassies" (sunglasses) on. What an awesome day!

This morning on our way to school, it was cold in the car. Josh could see his breath, "Look, moke!".

Some fun things that happened this weekend. Josh and I watched Peter Pan on Friday night, of course Pan and Hook have "lightsavers" instead of swords. But the best part is that every time the crocodile comes on, Josh says, "Mama, dot-do-dile will biteyoume!". Very cute. Then on our way back from church, where we had a ground breaking ceremony and Josh definitely broke lots of ground, he kept saying, in this little soft, high pitched voice, "Mama, you alright?" "Yeah, baby I'm alright, are you alright?", "I alright, you sad?" "No, I'm not sad, are you sad?", "No, fish toy sad." Which I have no idea what that means, because when I ask him which fish toy, he says, "Huh?"

Josh and I drive the same way to his school every day. Every morning and evening he has to stop and wave at the flamingos (plastic) that are on a lawn in the neighborhood. But he does realize that they are "Pah-tend famingos". He is learning how to joke. When we look at his picture books, he will name things correctly at first and then he will start calling all the animals cows for example and then laugh hysterically. Then he'll say "I affing (laughing) Mama."

We also have a game where he'll say "Marcus (our cat) is so cute." and I'll say "You're so cute", "No you so cute". Then we do sweet, precious, special, smart, etc. He is such a blast!

Last night, 3/19, Josh decided to put me to bed. I had to lay down on the couch while he "took out contacts, brush teeth, eyedrops" He mimicked Shawn getting ready for bed. Then he came over and patted me. He is such a sweet boy.

Hi everyone! We are new to blogging so there might be some past information. Hopefully we'll be able to keep up daily. Joshua is now 2 and a half and enjoys being a boy! He loves to play "lightsaver" with anyone who will play and with anything, newspapers, sticks, rulers, etc. His favorite movies are Blue's Clues, VeggieTales, Bambi, and Star Wars Episode I, The Phantom Menace. Who knows why, but being a Star Wars geek myself, I'm so proud. He and his daddy had a great night on Friday, they went to the Auto Show and out to eat. While eating, Josh turned to some kids sitting behind him, tapped Shawn's shoulder and said, "My Daddy". I don't know how Shawn kept it together.
